From small-town Ontario beginnings in 1985, Elmira Poultry, a division of JD SWEID FOODS Ltd, has grown to become a part of one of the largest poultry and red meat further processors in Canada.
Elmira Poultry was founded in Elmira, Ontario by Monty Ward, who saw an unfulfilled demand for value-added, further processed poultry products. Over the years, our recipe for success proved to be just right. In 1990, to meet consumer demand for our growing product line, Elmira Poultry moved to its current location in Waterloo. At our new high-tech 40,000 sq. ft. facility, our family of employees continued to satisfy the needs of consumers throughout North America.
In 2006 JD Sweid Ltd acquired Elmira Poultry in Waterloo Ontario, creating a truly national manufacturing network to meet the ever changing needs of our customers. This acquisition resulted in the creation one of Canada’s largest suppliers of poultry and beef products to the food service and retail industries.
In 2009 we completed an extensive expansion on the Waterloo facility and changed our name to JD SWEID FOODS. This change better reflects our national structure and our continued commitment to our customers of providing innovative solutions to meet the ever changing needs of their business.
We continue to be an active member of the Tri-Cities community and support local efforts and initiatives. Our long standing fundraising program provides local groups and teams with the opportunity to raise funds to support their goals.
The organization now operates three facilities in Langley, Burnaby, and Waterloo and employs approximately 600 people who are working to provide world class customers with high quality products.
Today JD Sweid Foods continues to be committed to producing safe, innovative, high quality products for our customers and their consumers. |
